Birth is a profound & powerful rite of passage–of body, mind and spirit. My goal as your doula is to assist you in giving birth in the way which facilitates your empowerment, healing and transformation.
Your body is designed to birth your baby. By tuning into it’s wisdom and the messages you receive from your baby growing within, you are laying a foundation of trust from which to identify your deepest values and visualize the birth you wish to have.
Prenatal home visits support you and your partner (if present) in preparing for the birth by helping you clarify your wishes while addressing any areas of concern. I am available to answer any questions by phone or email at any time during your pregnancy.
I prefer that you call me when you think you are in labor, even if you do not yet need me. I can answer questions and make suggestions over the phone. We will decide if I should come right then or wait for further change. I will come to your home or meet you at your place of birth. I offer uninterrupted support during your labor and birth.
During labor I provide comfort measures such as massage, suggestions for position changes, relaxation techniques, encouragement and emotional support. I’ll answer questions and facilitate communication between you and your care providers so that you are clear about your options. I strive to hold a sacred space that allows you to go deep within your process of labor and birth.
I will remain with you in the immediate postpartum until you and your baby are settled. I can assist with initial breastfeeding if needed. I’ll visit you within the first week postpartum to check in on breastfeeding and general health of mom & baby. Services include breastfeeding support through 6 weeks postpartum.
